Shillong, Oct 5: Over 74 cattle were rescued by the Border Security Force (BSF) on the Indo-Bangladesh border on Wednesday.
In a statement, the BSF informed that based on specific information, special teams of 4th & 193rd Battalion BSF carried out an operation in the bordering area of East Khasi Hills and managed to seize 74 cattle, being smuggled to Bangladesh from the International border. The seized cattle were handed over to the concerned Police Station for further necessary action.
The BSF Meghalaya PRO stated that enhanced vigilance by the BSF in Meghalaya along the international border has resulted in the seizure of more than 2500 cattle from different border areas of Meghalaya since January 2023, thwarting the efforts of smugglers.
