Shillong, July 2: 2,110 shopkeepers and vendors of Iewduh or Bara Bazaar have been vaccinated by at least the first dose of vaccine. This was informed by the Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Paiem Ainam Syiem on Friday.
He said only 331 shopkeepers are left to be inoculated.
“From June 17 to June 27, 2021 the total number of shop keepers and vendors of Iewduh who have been vaccinated is 2110,” Syiem informed. Out of this, 754 got vaccinated in their own localities.
This represents odd 94 – 95 per cent of shop keepers and vendors inoculated.
Syiem said the shopkeepers have also been requested to follow all the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs issued by the government. Further, they are to prominently display if they and their staff have been vaccinated of not.
East Khasi Hills district administration and the Office of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem had on June 16 – 17 undertaken special vaccination drive for inoculation of the shopkeepers of Iewduh. About 500 shopkeepers were given the jab within 2 days.
Since June 11, the Meghalaya government has been carrying out intensive vaccination drives across the states, at an average of 10,000 vaccines a day.
