SHILLONG, JUNE 5: Congress chief and former Shillong MP Vincent H Pala said that he would definitely join state politics.
The three times sitting Shillong MP was defeated by VPP’s Ricky AJ Syngkon by a massive margin of over 3.7 lakh votes.
“Definitely, I will not forget politics. I will concentrate and I will definitely join state politics,” Pala said on Tuesday.
“I accept the mandate and I am grateful to the voters of my constituency for sending me three times to Delhi, which I never expected and never dreamt in my life. I tried to serve them to the best of my capacity and I hope that my contact with the people will always remain,” he added.
Pala also informed, “I already talked to Ricky and I wish him all the best while congratulating him. On behalf of my party and my family and myself, I thank the voters of my constituency.”
Meanwhile, Congress legislator from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma created history when he unseated Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s sister Agatha Sangma by a massive margin of over 1.55 lakh votes of the total 6.74 lakh voters.
Pala said that he along with Saleng will be going to Delhi to get his papers done in Delhi and to meet the party high command.
“When we come back from Delhi, we will do a felicitation for him (Saleng),” he said while informing that a committee will also be set up to workout for the upcoming district council elections in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.
When asked, the Congress chief said that there was similar wave in both Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies. “People want change and people become restless because of so many reasons and so many factors,” he added.
