HNLC officially ended the peace talks on January 8, 2024, after submitting a formal letter declaring their decision. The outfit has cited lack of action from the government on their key demands as reason to call-off the talks. One of the major demands of the outfit is to grant amnesty to their leaders and cadres, and revocation of all the cases pending against them.

While the State government has appealed to the outfit to reconsider their decision sating there has been some sort of miscommunication, the outfit has maintained that they will return to negotiation table only if the ‘amnesty’ condition is fulfilled.
