Shillong, Jan 23: Meghalaya Congress president Vincent Pala criticised the MDA government on Tuesday for denying Rahul Gandhi, permission to hold an interaction at USTM in Ri Bhoi district on Monday.
During Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Ri Bhoi district, the plan was to have an interaction with students at USTM, but permission was denied.
Pala expressed his view that this incident highlights the influence of the BJP in Delhi and certain leaders in Assam over the MDA Government.
Additionally, Pala informed that aspiring candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls have submitted their applications. These applications will undergo screening and approval by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Earlier, the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was stopped from entering Guwahati city on Tuesday, triggering protests from Congress workers who broke barricades and raised slogans.
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is an ongoing movement led by Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that started on 14 January 2024 in Thoubal, Manipur, and will end on 20 March 2024 in Mumbai, wrapping the east-west of India.
