Palm Sunday celebrated in Tura

Must read

Tura, April 2: Thousands thronged to the churches to celebrate the Palm Sunday in Rosary Church, Araimile, New Tura.

The devotees gathered to partake in the festival in a traditional manner and carry cut palm leaves in their hands during the processions. The last Sunday of this Lent is observed as Holy Sunday. Palm Sunday is celebrated annually by Christians to commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into the city of Jerusalem. It is also known as the Holy Sunday of Songs. It is celebrated on the Sunday before Jesus’ resurrection (Easter).

Father Thomas John, the principal of St. Mary’s School conducted the church service. In his homely he said that “Jesus passion is a love story as much as it is a story of our salvation. He died for us so that we may live and love. This celebration is a story of our own lives. Just as Jesus, there are times when we meet with success and receive appreciation and support from others. At times, we encounter failures and experience rejection. Jesus was a picture of majesty and serenity on both occasions because of His unflinching trust in His Father. He has left us an example to be imitated. Let us love like our master, who suffered because of His compassion for us”.
