Imphal, Jan 30: The newly elected BJP Manipur unit president, A. Sharda Devi, has stated that they has no knowledge when and what time the list of candidates would be announced because the announcement is to be made by the party high command.

Manipur has geared up for the Assembly polls and the political parties are seen busy in campaigning.

Talking to media persons, Sharda Devi on Saturday said the high command will inform the state BJP in advance before the announcement of party ticket(s). However, no signal has been received from the central leaders so far, she said.

The state BJP election committee whose members include Chief Minister N Biren Singh, works minister Th Biswajit Singh and A Sharda Devi had already placed its unanimous proposal for the list of BJP’s intending candidates to the central leaders during the parliamentary board meeting conducted on January 25 at New Delhi with central leaders.

Sharda Devi said it is the decision of the party high command whether to announce the candidate list for the entire 60 assembly constituencies at one go or in phase wise.

Nonetheless, the entire list will be announced by the end of this month, she added.

On the other hand, many new ticket seekers have emerged and created a huge rush in Manipur BJP office ahead of Assembly polls. Many intending candidates have started switching sides to get political mileage.

Lourembam Sanjoy Singh, one of the aspiring candidates, on Saturday joined the National People’s Party (NPP). Singh was one of the aspirant candidates from BJP but joined NPP. He is going to contest from Andro seat in NPP ticket.

Manipur will vote on February 27 and March 3 to elect 60 legislators.
