Pema Khandu Sworn in as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister for Third Term

Itangar, June 13: Pema Khandu, who won the recently held state assembly elections unopposed, took oath on Thursday as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term.

Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) K.T. Parnaik administered the oath in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and many other top BJP leaders at DK conventional hall in the state capital, Itanagar.

In the 2024 Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 46 seats out of 60. Ten BJP candidates, including Khandu, had won the Assembly elections uncontested.

On Wednesday, Khandu was re-elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Arunachal Pradesh in presence of two central observers of the party. He first assumed the role in 2016.

Along with Khandu, Chowna Mein has also been sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union ministers JP Nadda and Kiren Rijiju, Assam Chief Minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay, among others, were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Khandu’s upcoming cabinet lineup is anticipated to include Biyuram Waghe, Chowna Mein, Nyato Dukam, Gabriel Denwang Wangsu, Wangki Lowang, Pasang Dorjee Sona, Mama Natung, Dasanglu Pul, Balo Raja, Kento Jini, and Ojing Tasing.
