The Rugala ceremony of the 100 drums Wangala festival enthralled visitors at Baljek, about 38 km from Tura.

A day ahead of the Wangala, a ritual called Rugala is performed by the Nokma and, in this ritual, the offering of special rice-beer along with cooked rice and vegetables are given to Misi Saljong, the Great Giver.

The Rugala ceremony concluded the day’s activities with the rhythm of 100 drums.

The other highlights of the festival were indigenous games and cultural competitions.
