Assam, Mar 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday virtually laid the foundation stone of three semiconductor facilities of about Rs 1.25 lakh crore, which includes two in Gujarat and one in Assam. The Prime Minister said the ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips will take the country towards self-reliance and modernity.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was present at the event on the site of the facility in Jagiroad, thanked the Prime Minister for bringing up the facility in Assam.
“Assam being situated in the remotest part of this country, we never thought that we would be the pioneer of the semiconductor revolution. The blessings and confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in the northeast has brought the semiconductor revolution in Assam,” Sarma said.
The project will attract an investment of Rs 27,000 crores and ensure employment of 30,000 young people in our state and neighbourhood. “This is the beginning; this is not the end. I am sure that now Assam will see a new light, a new day as far economic prosperity is concerned,” he further added.
