On Saturday, Meghalaya commemorated its 52nd Statehood Day with a festive program at the District Auditorium and Library in Tura. Governor Phagu Chauhan also extended warm greetings to the people on this significant occasion.
Meghalaya, formed on January 21, 1972, emerged from the partition of Assam during the tenure of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi amid the Hill State Movement. The day’s celebrations reflect not only the historical significance of Meghalaya’s statehood but also serve as a moment of pride for its residents.
