Tura, Oct 11: Frustrated by the protracted delay in completing a PMGSY road in South Garo Hills, villagers have taken legal action against the contractor. The deteriorating condition of the road has been causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters in the area.

The road in question connects Goka to Alokpang Bobeagittim and falls under the PMGSY scheme in the Rongara constituency. Although construction commenced in 2017, six years have passed and the road remains incomplete and in a state of disrepair, as reported by local residents.

The villagers are particularly concerned about the dire state of the road, which poses a significant challenge for school-going children who rely on it daily. NGOs from South Garo Hills have consistently raised the issue, submitting complaints to the District Commissioner.

Residents are urgently appealing to the authorities to investigate the matter and ensure swift completion of the road, thereby alleviating the hardships faced by commuters.
