Guwahati, Feb 13: Police has rescued an infant, who was abducted in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon. The one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl was abducted from Khanapara Flyover. The child was rescued and abductors were arrested on Sunday evening.
Police Commissioner Diganta Borah informed that the parents reported the matter and police investigated the abduction and arrested three individuals.
Borah narrated the case.
“The child’s parents run a small shop (tamul paan) by the roadside in Khanapara. A young man use to frequent the shop and use to play with the child. The old man even use to buy chocolates for her. On Sunday, the same person took the child to a nearby shop to buy her chocolates and did not return. This led too suspicion.”
Borah said that with the lead given by the parent, the police swung into action and arrested the three suspects, including a women from Fatasil Ambari in Guwahati.
“We rescued the baby within a span of six hours”, Borah said.
The kidnapping plan was hatched by a woman who resides in Fatasil Ambari.
“One drug addict Niki Boro kidnapped the girl from Khanapara flyover and handed it over to accused Samir Dey, who took her to a residential place in Fatasil Ambari. The kidnappers had planned to sell the child for Rs. 1,20,000”, Borah informed.
Police has registered a case against the accused trio.
