Shillong, March 26: The police reserve will soon be shifted from Jail road as part of the government’s endeavor to decongest Shillong city.
Informing this after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, cabinet meeting and government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh said, “To decongest the city of Shillong, the police reserve will now be relocated at Tynring which is under the new Shillong Township. The cabinet has approved this proposal today.”
“An area of 50 acres will be allotted for the creation of a new police reserve at Tynring and this particular area will also serve as a corridor between the administrative city and the knowledge city of the new Shillong Township,” he added.
Asked, Lyngdoh said the work will start immediate for the creation of the new police reserve.
The plan is to decongest the area and the jail will also be shifted and the proposal of what will happen to the plots of land will then be put up by the department of urban affairs. We will first move to new Shillong and then decide what we will do with the plot of land that will be made free once the police reserve moves out of there and the state jail will also move out and then we will decide because the need of the city are multiple and those will be addressed by the department concerned,” he added.
