Tura, Aug 02: Phulbari Police have arrested 2 people and seized 700 grams of ganja in a successful anti-narcotics operation in West Garo Hills.
Based on credible information, the Phulbari Police Station team conducted a search at the residence of Fozidur Islam in Vill. Khaprabari, Belbari, leading to the seizure of approximately 227 grams of Ganja (cannabis).
Following the initial recovery, Fozidur Islam cooperated with the police and provided crucial information, leading them to the house of Mominur Islam. In this second raid, an additional 472 grams of Ganja was seized. As a result of these significant recoveries, a cognizable case has been registered under the Phulbari PS case number 30(08)2023, U/S 20(b)(ii)(A)/25/29, NDPS Act, 1985, and the investigation is currently underway.
The total haul from the operation includes 700 grams of Ganja, along with a cash amount of Rs. 66,970, two mobile phones, and one SBI ATM Card.
As part of the operation, the police arrested two individuals in connection with the case. Fozidur Islam, 26 years old, and son of Moziar Rahman, was apprehended at his residence in Khaprabari Belbari, Phulbari, WGH. Mominur Rahman, 38 years old, and son of the late Abdul Malik Sk, was arrested at his residence in Belbari, Phulbari, WGH.
Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, V S Rathore, has appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and help maintain a drug-free community.
