Shillong, July 11: East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger on Tuesday said police are yet to file a charge sheet against those arrested in the recent scuffle incident at Laitumkhrah.

“Case is still under investigation and right now we have not filed a charge sheet but the investigating officer (IO) is still on the job,” Nongtnger told reporters.

On July 8, five persons belonging to the two groups were arrested for their involvement in the recent scuffle incident that led to the torching of three vehicles at Laitumkhrah police station.

The five were produced before the Court and were remanded to five days police custody.

Asked if some more arrests will be made, Nongtnger said, “That will come in due course. I can’t tell you. We can’t predict but the IO is still on the job.”

On Thursday last, the incident started when both parties, who were involved in the fight, proceeded to the police station to file FIRs.

While there was heated exchange of words inside the police station, some unidentified people gathered outside and set ablaze a police gypsy vehicle, a tourist taxi and motorbike, which were parked in the police station premises.

The mob also pelted stones at the police station causing damage to a window pane.
