Guwahati, April 28: In a heartwarming display of compassionate leadership, Debashish Sharma, the District Election Officer of Morigaon district in Assam, orchestrated an impromptu musical session to welcome exhausted polling teams as they arrived at the strong room around 2 AM on April 27th.

As the polling officials returned after a grueling day of overseeing the voting process, they were greeted by an unexpected sight: Sharma, armed with a guitar, welcomed them with uplifting tunes. The bureaucrat’s melodic renditions, accompanied by singing from the polling staff, quickly transformed the late-night gathering into a spirited jam session.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Sharma can be seen strumming his guitar and leading the group in a rousing chorus of “We Shall Overcome,” a powerful anthem of perseverance and hope. The heartfelt performance served as a morale-boosting tonic for the dedicated officials, who had worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct of the second phase of polling in the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency. The video went viral soon after it surfaced on social media.

Debashish Sharma’s unique gesture has been widely applauded as an outstanding display of compassionate leadership and a reminder of the significance of engaging with ground-level officials. Furthermore, as Chairman of Cancer Care India – Debashish has tirelessly been supporting cancer patients both across Northeast India and throughout India.
