Guwahati, April 10: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, students of Pragjyotish College in Guwahati have voiced their expectations and priorities, emphasizing the need for qualified candidates who prioritized developmental issues over party affiliations.

Expressing their views to Hubnews, the college students highlighted their desire for elected representatives who are committed towards comprehensive development in Assam and addressing the concerns of the youth.

A student acknowledged the developmental initiatives undertaken by the current government, stating that “in the last 10 years, we have seen some development in different sectors. This is the first government which focused on youth. That’s why I thank the government.” They emphasized the importance of continued progress and pledged to vote for the government that prioritizes development.

Another student emphasized the importance of assessing candidates based on their commitment to development rather than party allegiance, saying, “my vote will go to that government which will work for development. This time I am going to vote for the first time, I will see which government is doing better, which government is right for Assam or for India and is more development oriented, I will vote for him. Will vote for the candidates, not the party.”, the young voter further added.

The first-time voters, who are eager to contribute to the democratic process, but their primary concern remains the holistic development of Assam, and they intend to vote for candidates who they believe can effectively work towards this goal.

Students emphasized the importance of preserving Assam’s rich heritage and culture also, and they hope that elected representatives will advocate for these aspects in Parliament while addressing the pressing issues faced by the state’s residents.

The sentiments expressed by Pragjyotish College students highlights the growing demand among the youth for accountable and development-oriented governance.
