Shillong, Jan 26: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has requested the pro-ILP groups to wait for the meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for discussion on the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
Tynsong said that he has nothing to say regarding the decision of the NGOs to call for agitations on the issue.
“But what I am saying is that (during our meeting with them in the chief minister’s room), we have already told them that most likely we will meet the union home minister during the upcoming budget session of the parliament,” he said.
“Therefore, we requested them to let us wait and we will go to Delhi and meet him (Shah) conveniently over there,” Tynsong added.
During his two days visit to the state, Shah had assured to meet the state government and the pressure groups in New Delhi for further discussion on the ILP, he said.
It may be mentioned here, the pressure groups have expressed disappointment over Shah’s refusal to discuss the ILP resolution and some have even termed it as a big insult to the MDA government and the people of the state.
Asked, the deputy chief minister however said that he had seen it with his own eyes that Shah was having a really tight schedule on that particular day because he has to attend an emergent meeting in Assam.
