Tura, August 5: A series of posts erected over drains on sides of the road in Chandmari Kala Azar Road have been done by Reliance Jio, which is expanding its fiber network. The company officials have been accused of undertaking the work violating the permission given to them to set up their fiber network.
While the PWD allowed Jio to set up their network, yet the order did not allow them to construct the posts on drains that protect the roads from water logging during rains.
To avoid detection, most of these works have reportedly been done during the late evening hours.
The K A Road development Committee has strongly objected to this practice by the company’s officials, and have also complained about it to the West Garo Hills DC, Jagdish Chelani.
Speaking to Hub News, DC Chelani said he has received a complaint from the development committee and assured to take necessary steps for the removal of the posts from the drain area.
It is worth mentioning that in view of the poor drainage in the locality, rain water accumulates onto the roads in large pools causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists alike.
Hundreds of students going to Don Bosco School and College face immense difficulties during the rains while trying to navigate through this waterlogged road.
