Jowai, Mar 4: Intensified Pulse Polio campaign began in the district today. Assistant Commissioner S. Phanbuh inaugurated the campaign and administered polio drops to children also inaugurating the100 bedded MCH Hospital Panaliar, Jowai.
S Phanbuh advised the parents to take their children below 5 years to the booth centres to receive Polio drops, for protection and safeguarding of their children from polio.
Dr. Helen J Uriah, District Maternal and Child Health Officer emphasised the need for administering polio drops to children to protect them from lifelong disabilities associated with polio infection. Dr. Helen said immunization is being carried out at all Polio booths centres set up in the various localities of Jowai Town, Health centres and villages to cover all children below 5 years of age. The immunization campaign started today, and will cover the entire district. The immunization program will continue till 6th March, 2024 with door-to-door visits on 5th and 6th March, 2024.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Evalyneda B.V Laloo, Doctors and staff nurses of inaugurated 100 bedded MCH Panaliar, Jowai were also present for the inaugural programme.
