Guwahati, Jan 19: Assam Police have registered an FIR against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi at Panbazar police station in Guwahati for allegedly making derogatory remarks about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
The case has been filed under Sections 152 and 197(d) of the BNSS, citing that Gandhi’s statements could incite public unrest and disrupt social harmony.
The incident reportedly occurred during Gandhi’s recent visit to Assam as part of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.’ While addressing a public gathering, he allegedly made remarks targeting Bhagwat’s position and views, which have been described as inflammatory in the FIR.
The Guwahati police have initiated legal proceedings based on the complaint.
This isn’t the first instance of legal trouble for Rahul Gandhi in Assam. Earlier, another FIR was lodged against him during the same yatra for allegedly inciting violence.
