Guwahati, April 12: During a public rally in Rajasthan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a significant pledge from the party’s poll manifesto. He announced that if Congress secures victory in the elections, they will transfer ₹1 lakh annually into the bank account of one woman from every impoverished household across the nation.

Highlighting the initiative’s aim to combat poverty, Gandhi emphasized that this equates to ₹8,500 per month for the chosen female beneficiary. He stated, “the Congress government will transfer ₹1 lakh annually to the bank account of one woman from every poor household in the country.”

Gandhi further emphasized the transformative potential of this promise, asserting, that “if you are below the poverty line, then every year, ₹1 lakh (₹8,500 per month) will come continuously, and with one stroke, we will eradicate poverty from India.”

This announcement aligns with the Congress party’s focus on addressing socioeconomic challenges and uplifting marginalized communities.
