Raj Bhavan observes Earth Hour with rest of the globe

Shillong, Mar 23: Closure of non-essential lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM in the Raj Bhavan Shillong marked the observation of earth Hour to conserve energy.

“Earth Hour” is an expression of solidarity to create awareness for energy conservation and for action on climate change.

Essential lights remained active for security, while solar powered equipment operated to reduce reliance on the main grid during this hour.

Earth Hour is to inspire individuals, governments and corporations to move towards responsible consumption and conservation of energy.

Earth Hour campaign was started in Sydney, in which millions of people participated and now the campaign has reached to large numbers of countries including India.
