Shillong, Nov 24: The New Shillong Township (NST) project is on track for significant growth, with the Meghalaya government projecting major infrastructure advancements within the next three to four years.
Urban Affairs Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to the ambitious initiative, stating, “A lot of projects are underway in New Shillong Township, and many more are yet to come. Within three to four years, the township will undergo a drastic transformation.”
Minister Dhar also highlighted the vital financial support driving the project, saying, “Requesting funds is a continuous process with the central government. We are thankful to the Government of India for their consistent support, especially for the New Shillong Township project.”
The NST is envisioned as a beacon of sustainable growth and modern infrastructure, with ongoing and proposed projects aimed at turning the area into a hub of progress and opportunity.
Significant investments underscore the government’s commitment to this vision. Over Rs 331 crore has been spent on land acquisition, while Rs 83.07 crore has been generated from land premiums. These figures reflect the State’s resolve to establish NST as a model for urban development in Meghalaya and beyond.
