Rapsang hits back at Paul Lyngdoh for ‘relocation of Sweepers’ Colony’ slur

SHILLONG, Aug 23: Suspended Congress legislator from West Shillong Mohendro Rapsang on Tuesday hit back at UDP leader and former MLA of the constituency Paul Lyngdoh for alleging that that the former was a part of the decision making process to relocate the residents of Sweepers’ Colony from Them Iew Mawlong to the RP Chest hospital area in Mawbah.

“Paul Lyngdoh should know one thing, I am not a cabinet minister, I am just supporting the government from outside like all other parties supporting the government,” Rapsang told reporters.

Lyngdoh had recently alleged that there are indications that Rapsang is part of the decision making process to relocate the residents of Sweepers’ Colony to the RP Chest hospital since he is all set to join the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the 2023 assembly elections in the state.

Ridiculing Lyngdoh’s claim, the sitting legislator said that the decision making for the shifting the residents of the Sweepers’ Colony depends entirely on the government.

“I am not part and parcel of the decision making in that shifting of the Harijans to my constituency,” he maintained.

Rapsang further reiterated, “I stand with the dorbar shnong of Mawbah that we strongly oppose this move by the government for relocation (of the Harijans) in my constituency.”

When asked, he said, “I will tell you one thing, it will be a very strong decision making by me when 2023 comes when I am there as a minister that will be a decision making by me.”
