Shillong, Feb 9: Raymond Johnny Kurbah, the first Khasi MMA fighter signed by a US based agency- The upgrade MG from Los Angeles, is set to go for a three-month training at either Dubai or Thailand for the preparation to win the Road to UFC.

Kurbah, while speaking to reporters here on Thursday, said he has about four to five fights so as to get selected for the biggest stage in the world the UFC – the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

After getting scouted by the US agency, Kurbah has been signed by the US based agency for a year-long contract. The agency will help Kurbah with his fighting and training schedules.

Vikram Raja, the representative of Upgrade MG, said they will help Raymond with his trainings based on his skills set. For wrestling and ground and pound techniques, Kurbah has to undergo training in Dubai. While for striking techniques, Kurbah has to go to Thailand.

Kurbah, a black belt in Karate, has shifted to MMA and is currently fighting under bantam weight division.

Seeking financial support, Kurbah appealed for financial assistance from the general public as he needs not less than Rs. 2 lakhs to undergo his training session abroad.

It may be mentioned that just three days ago, a Delhi boy Anshul Jubli became the 1st Indian to win Road To UFC final and bagged a UFC contract.
