Shillong, Dec 19: The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), an alliance of two prominent state regional parties, the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Hills State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), officially announced former HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin as their joint candidate for the upcoming MP election from the Shillong Parliamentary Seat on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by RDA Chairman and UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh following the RDA meeting held in the city on Tuesday.

Kharjahrin, who also serves as an advocate in the Meghalaya High Court, recently joined the UDP during a meeting in Mawkyrwat.

The Shillong Seat is anticipated to be a fiercely contested battleground, with Kharjahrin competing against Cabinet Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Dr. M Amapreen Lyngdoh, as well as Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) candidate Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon.
