While most toddlers spend their days playing toys, stacking blocks or watching cartoons on YouTube, Jude Maynard Khyriem is busy exploring the universe—one question at a time. At just three years old, this little genius from Shillong has made his way into the Indian Book of Records 2025, as the youngest toddler to answer the highest number of questions on the solar system and space.
Jude answered 76 questions in just 14 minutes and 43 seconds, a feat that has left everyone in awe. He achieved this record while he was of 2 years, 10 months and 2 days, as confirmed on January 28, 2025.
Born on March 26, 2022, Jude’s fascination with space was not something his parents, Eric Bruce Nongkynrih and Labelle Fille Khyriem, taught him—it was something he naturally gravitated toward.
Even as a baby, he showed an unusual level of curiosity. By six or seven months, his parents began exposing him to books and learning materials, but it was at around one and a half years old that they noticed something truly remarkable. Unlike other children who clung to stuffed animals or toy cars, Jude chose space-themed books and puzzles. He could sit for hours, staring at images of planets and galaxies, asking question after question, as if his young mind was desperate to understand the vastness of the cosmos.
On his Record, because of his age, Jude could not travel to Haryana for an in-person evaluation, so his parents applied online in January, submitting video proof of his abilities. The process required meticulous documentation, but when the results finally came in, it was official—Jude was now a record holder.
Interestingly, Jude’s brilliance does not stop at space. His mind is a sponge, soaking up information that most adults would struggle to remember. He knows the capital cities of nearly every major country and can pinpoint all the states of India on a globe with ease. His map puzzle, a favorite pastime, is no challenge—he arranges the states of India effortlessly, as if it were second nature to him.
If that was not impressive enough, Jude is already multilingual. At just three years old, he speaks French, Japanese, Spanish, Hindi and English. But what is even more astonishing is his ability to pick up languages simply by listening.
He speaks Khasi fluently, but not just the standard dialect—he speaks the Mylliem Khasi spoken by his family and has also picked up ‘ktien maram,’ a dialect from West Khasi Hills, thanks to his daily interactions with the household helper.
The little genius had everyone smiling when asked to name a world-famous person—without missing a beat, Jude proudly answered, “Papa”.
His love for learning extends beyond languages and geography. Unlike most toddlers who would rather watch cartoons, Jude prefers sitting with his grandfather and watching the news. His parents recall a moment when he pointed to a location on the map, identifying the epicenter of a recent earthquake in Myanmar—an ability that still amazes them.
Despite his brilliance, his parents ensure that he is not overwhelmed. They limit screen time, opting for books, puzzles, and educational toys instead. Of course, like any child, he enjoys a bit of television before bedtime, but for the most part, his days are filled with discovery and curiosity.
When his parents learned about the Guinness World Record for the fastest recitation of the planets—currently held by West Bengal’s Aryan Ghosal, who did it in four seconds at the age of three years, one month, and 20 days—they smiled knowingly. If Jude were to attempt it, they believe he would not even need four seconds.
For now, they are letting him explore at his own pace, nurturing his curiosity and remarkable ability to absorb knowledge faster than most toddlers. As he prepares for his first day of school next week, three-year-old Jude Maynard Khyriem is already confident about his future—one day, he is going to be an astronaut, he said with sheer confidence.
