Guwahati, May 14: The locals of Nagaon found a rhino carcass at a field in Assam’s Nagaon on Tuesday.
The carcass of the rhino was found lying in the field. After receiving the input, forest department team moved to the location to investigate the incident.
The rhino is suspected to have strayed out of the Kaziranga National Park.
After reaching the spot, officials that the rhino may have died of natural causes but the exact cause of death is being examined.
The officials have ruled out the possibility of poaching-related activity as the horn was intact on the animal.
“We have sent the carcass for postmortem. We suspect that the rhino may be died due to natural cause or after a fight with another rhino,” said a forest official.
