Shillong, Oct 20: The office of the District Sports Office, Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District, on Thursday organised Fit India Run which commenced from Jyntru village till the Indoor Stadium of Umlyngkdait, Nongpoh. The run witnessed the participation of over hundreds of young people and even senior citizens alike.
The main aim of Fit India Run is to spread the mass message to the general public on the importance of personal health and fitness. The central government’s FIT INDIA Movement was launched on 29th August, 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a view to make fitness an integral part of people’s daily lives. The mission of the movement is to bring about behavioural changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle.
The official programme was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner MB Tongper and the District Sport Officer Bobby L Nongbet among others.
The DSO office also presented awards to the participants in which Skhemlang Suba bagged the first prize, the second place was bagged by Monas Bongrung and the third place by Lapynkhraw Thabah.
In the women’s category, winners included Barisha Khymdeit, Sildaris Makri and Dakahi Kyndait, respectively.
