Shillong, March 19: Ri-Bhoi police have arrested a 21-year-old man for the assault of a female airport employee near Umroi Airport on Wednesday morning.
The accused identified as Kyrshanlang Marngar, a resident of Dongrudwah, Nongrah, Umroi, allegedly attacked Ellana Lyngdoh Mawphalang (27), a temporary resident of Umroi Nongrah, while she was on her way to work.
Marngar struck the victim with a broken beer bottle and a stone on the approaching road to the airport, leaving her seriously injured.
The victim was immediately taken to CHC Bhoirymbong for treatment and later referred to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong due to the severity of her injuries.
A case has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.
