Ri-Bhoi’s Pahammawleiñ Toll Plaza workers stage dharna demanding removal of manager

Nongpoh, June 4: The local employees of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) toll plaza at Pahammawleiñ in Ri Bhoi District have demanded immediate removal of the Manager of the toll plaza for his alleged high-handedness and misbehaviour toward the local employees at the plaza.

On Thursday evening, around 20-30 employees of the Pahammawleiñ toll plaza stopped their services at the plaza and staged a dharna at the plaza office. Later, Ri Bhoi district police reached the spot to take stock of the situation and to prevent any untoward incident.

According to the employees, especially the women folk, one Gagiur Rahman, manager under the M. B. Consortium company, has allegedly been misbehaving and tried to find fault of the local employees on numerous occasions.

Employees’ representative of Lumjingshai Pahammawleiñ, Kyrngun Sylliang, and the local director of the plaza, Jayan Sylliang, slammed the action of the manager and backed the agitation of the employees who demanded immediate removal of the manager.

They also accused the local Rangbah Shnong of Pahammawleiñ for favouring the manager and the company.
