Jowai, Aug 26: Meghalaya Education Minister and MLA of Amlarem, Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday handed over the sanction letter to the Nongtalang College to avail benefits under the state government’s People’s College Scheme.
The letter was handed over at a small gathering held at Nongtalang Village.
Rymbui said this scheme is part of the MDA Government’s initiative under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma to improve the education infrastructure all around the state.

During the gathering, Rymbui handed over the sanction letter to 34 teaching staff and 4 non-teaching staff of the College.

Under this Scheme financial aid will be provided to community managed colleges around the state. Some of the colleges in Jaiñtia Hills, apart from Nongtalang College, selected to avail benefits include Shangpung College and Jaintia Eastern College while the other colleges in the State include Nongstoin College, Ri Bhoi College, Tirot Sing College, Tura Christian College, Chokpot College and Ampati College.
