Islamabad, Dec 5: Sajid Mir, one of the main conspirators of the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attack in 2011 has been poisoned inside a jail, according to unconfirmed reports.
Mir was lodged in the Central Jail of Dera Ghazi Khan in Pakistan.
He was shifted from Lahore Central Jail few months back.
According to reports, he was airlifted by the Pakistan Army to CMH Institute of Medical Sciences, Bahawalpur.
Who is Sajid Mir?
Sajid Mir, is one of the senior member of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and he is wanted for his involvement in November 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.
Mir, who is believed to be in his 40s, is one of India’s most wanted terrorists and has a bounty of $5 million placed on his head by the US for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
In June 2022, he was jailed for over 15 years for his role in a terror-financing case by an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan.
Earlier, the Pakistani authorities claimed that Mir had died, but Western countries demanded proof of his death.
In June, this year, China blocked a move to designate Mir as a “global terrorist” by the UN.
Following which, on June 2023, a proposal was moved by the US and co-designated by India to blacklist Mir under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council as a global terrorist and subject him to assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo.
