Shillong, Feb 29: Peeved with the Congress attack on his attendance track record in the assembly sessions, senior BJP leader and South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Thursday responded that actions always speak louder than words.
Leader of Opposition qnd Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Wednesday questioned the South Shillong MLA over his absence in the recent budget session and failure to speak in the assembly.
Reacting to the allegations, Shullai termed Lyngdoh’s statement as untrue.
“Firstly, I did attend the budget session and in the past there have been many occasions that I’ve spoken and raised pertinent issues be it challenges of the people in the Constituency during COVID,” Shullai said.
He pointed to the efforts made from his side that compelled the MDA 1 government to earmark and sanction Rs 50 lakh for each constituency during COVID.
Shullai also reminded his critics that being in the ruling side he has even been at the forefront in raising issues on CAA, UCC, ILP among others.
“After our intervention Government of India decided to exempt the implementation of CAA in 6th schedule areas,” reminded Shullai.
The BJP leader mentioned that when it comes to issues in his constituency, he speaks to all departments and officers concerned to apprise them of the needs of the people in his constituency.
“I adapt to the idea of work speaks louder than words, hence I don’t feel the need to speak so much,” reacted Shullai.
Shullai urged the voters in the state to give BJP a chance in this upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. “Give BJP a chance. Make a comparison with Assam, look at the amount of infrastructure and development that has been brought in but Shillong remains the same,” said Shullai.
It maybe mentioned that Shullai is part of the incumbent government. The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government is an alliance of the NPP, UDP, BJP parties and this is their second term.
