SHILLONG, MAY 21: BJP legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai has requested the state government to facelift the entire PWD roads within his constituency.

“I humbly request you to kindly consider my request to facelift the entire PWD roads within 19th South Shillong constituency,” Shullai said in a letter submitted to the deputy chief minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday.

He said that the entire existing old PWD roads within the Municipal areas under his constituency, have only been repaired from time to time for the past several years. There has been a multifold increase in the number of tourist homestays, lodges and guest houses within the constituency.

Further, with several upcoming proposed projects like Ropeway from Shillong peak view point to Madan Laban (Raid Laban) and other important link roads within South Shillong constituency, the constituency will be promoting tourism at a greater height and also help to decongest the entire Shillong city.

“The roads within the municipal area of South Shillong constituency need a modern-day facelift by implementing the bituminous concrete road schemes. Such beautification of roads with proper demarcation for parking and other provisions will only ensure the constituency will add glory towards the Smart City Scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.
