Shillong, Feb 9: BJP MLA from South Shillong and Minister Sanbor Shullai said he is happy and welcomes the decision of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council’s (HNLC) offer to hold unconditional peace talks with the government
“The banned outfit have given a green signal, they are voluntarily coming back to the mainstream…. So, this is a very good move and we are very happy and it is the wisdom of the chief minister to tackle this decision positively,” said Shullai while speaking to reporters in the city on Wednesday.
“It is the wisdom of the Chief Minister to carry on with the negotiation… every religious leaders are praying for them to come overground and start a new life,” added Shullai.
He also stressed on the need for negotiation stating on how long will they stay in the jungle. “Let them come back and start a new life and to reform themselves so they can be in touch with their family and start their social life as new persons,” he opined.
Shullai further informed that as a concerned legislator he has personally submitted appeals to the Central Government to talk with the Meghalaya CM to have dialogues and negotiation with the banned militant outfit.
