Shillong, April 18: Meghalaya’s Football Team edged Rajasthan with a 3-2 victory in its opening encounter at the 75th HERO NFC Santosh Trophy at Malappuram Football Ground in Kerala on Monday.

A brace, meaning two goals, from Figo Syndai and a goal from the captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri secured the Meghalaya team their first win and bagged three points in the opening match.

Figo Syndai was adjudged the Man of the Match for his twin goals.

Meghalaya is scheduled to face the host and the favourite team Kerala on April 18.

The third match is scheduled on April 20 and the final group stage match will be against a strong Punjab side on April 24
