Shillong, Sep 1: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised the U Tirot Sing Best Students Award 2023, an annual programme, on Friday at the U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong.

The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, graced the event and handed over the awards to the students.

He also congratulated and urged the students to work hard and excel in their lives.

Sonowal also remembered the supreme sacrifice of freedom fighter U Tirot Sing and paid rich tributes to the legendary Khasi freedom fighter. He also highlighted the importance of education,

At the event, other dignitaries were also present, including the Honourable Cabinet Minister GoM, Alexander Laloo Hek, and Dr. Kestonbel Manik Syiemlieh Dy Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw.

Dr. C. A Sashan Khongthohrem, State President of ABVP Meghalaya, graced the event as the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Special Guest of Programme.
