Nongpoh, Sept 16: The Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) U-19 girls cliched the trophy of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s (MCA) U-19 Girls Inter District Cricket Tournament by defeating the Ri Bhoi District Cricket Association (RBDCA) in a thrilling final match held at the RBDCA playground at Umbuda in Nongpoh.
During the thrilling final match on Saturday, RBDCA won the toss and opted to bowl first.
SCA obliged and put up a fighting total of 157/7 runs in 35 overs.
In reply, RBDCA batted well and came agonisingly close to SCA’s score but fell short by just 2 runs. RBDCA managed to score 155/8 runs in 35 overs.
The final match was witnessed by the MCA president Nababrata Bhattacharjee, RBDCA and MCA vice President Rayonald Kharkamni, RBDCA Secretary Michael Kharhunai, Apex Council of the MCA Arwotki Sumer, SCA president Macdonald Kharsawian among others officials.
The Best Player of the tournament was bagged by Ankita Sharma of RBDCA who managed to score 83 runs and clinched 2 wickets throughout the tournament. The player of the match was bagged by Neelam Roy of SCA, who scored 40 runs and claimed 2 wickets.
