SHILLONG, JAN 8: Deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Wednesday informed that the regional committee for West Jaintia Hills is waiting for the report from the concerned deputy commissioner in regards to the villages under Block-I area.
“We have given time to the DC to prepare another report that we want within one or two months,” Dhar told reporters.
“We will accordingly place our report before the government and both the governments (of Meghalaya and Assam) will take a call on this,” he added.
Asked, Dhar said that challenges are there to resolve the remaining six areas of difference under the second phase of border talks with Assam.
“But trying is a continuous process as the issue, which has been there for the last 50-52 years at least for the last 5 years, we are trying very hard, we are trying to solve it, that is priority for the government. We are trying to solve it at the earliest possible,” he said.
Dhar said that the Assam counterparts are cooperating with the committee on the issue.
“We are cooperating with each other (assam counterpart) but since it is a complicated issue sometimes here and there is happening but we are cooperating with each other,” he said.
