Shillong, Feb 4: Additional five companies of police has been deployed for the conduct of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) polls, slated for February 21.
“Platoons have already been deployed, and additional forces are being stationed at 34 vulnerable and five critical polling stations,” said Vivek Syiem, SP, East Khasi Hills.
In East Khasi Hills alone, voting will be held in 931 polling stations.
Syiem said every polling station will witness intensified security measures, including mobile patrols, tactical patrolling, night checkpoints (nakas), and routine security checks to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.
Meanwhile, police has arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged bomb threat message. The suspects had reportedly threatened to carry out multiple bomb blasts in Shillong.
