Shangpliang asks VPP to stop fooling people over Hindi issue

Must read

SHILLONG, APR 4: NPP spokesperson Himalaya M Shangpliang on Thursday asked the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) to stop fooling the people on its stand against Hindi.

“Who has raised the issue against Hindi in the Assembly? Was it not the VPP? Now when they are being criticized for it, they start washing their hands saying that it is a non-issue,” Shangpliang said.

He was reacting to a statement made by VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh that the VPP is being attacked on Hindi, which is a non-issue.

“Inside the House, you (VPP) say we oppose Hindi and in order to garner votes (of non-tribal), you are saying you never oppose Hindi,” he said while adding the protest by the VPP against Hindi in Assembly has been recorded in the proceedings of the House. “Therefore, they should stop fooling the people,” he said.

On the VPP’s claim that its blueprint will be governed by the rules, Shangpliang said that the fact is that the VPP’s blueprint is just a ‘blank paper’.

“They don’t have a vision for the state,” he said while urging the people to not get fooled by such a party.
