Shillong, March 2: The Shillong All Faith Forum (SAFF), on Friday urges the government of Meghalaya and Assam to discuss and resolve on the issues related to the persecution of Christians living in the border region.
Prior to this, the SAFF had also convoke an emergency meeting talking through on the consequences that had arised on the persecution of Christians living in the state borders of Meghalaya and Assam.
Bishop Purely Lyngdoh, President of the SAFF stated that the condition of Christians in the North East India especially the one living in the borders of Meghalaya, have been witnessing intimidation and oppression for a while which was not prevalent earlier as they live in complete harmony along with their distinct richness in their belief, language and their traditions.
He said, “It is truly saddening to see that now Christians living in the Meghalaya-Assam border region are again experiencing oppression and are constantly living in fear ”
He also express that it is due to the presence of some self-centered individuals who’s likely to take advantages and start creating disturbances especially since Elections season are knocking doors.
“Thus, SAFF urges both the Governments to continue the discussion and seek and special notice especially on the news and to take necessary actions on such events that arises that ought to bring about differences among the faithful in all over the region” added the President, SAFF.
