Shillong, June 19:The UDP-led executive committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Monday was toppled after a No-confidence motion was moved by the National People’s Party (NPP) and supported by the opposition Congress.
Chairman of the Council Lamphrang Blah after putting the NC to vote declared that the EC under the leadership of Titosstarwell Chyne has collapsed today after 17 members supported the No-confidence motion against him.
These include 11 NPP and 6 Congress. The NC was moved by Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC Bajop Pyngrope.
Blah also announced that the election to the post of chief executive committee will be held on Tuesday.
He also asked that nomination paper should be submitted to the secretary of the legislative by today.
Scrutiny will also be held today.
Meanwhile, Mawryngkneng MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem has filed his nomination papers for the CEM election.
Earlier in his speech, Chyne has termed the NC as an act of betrayal by the NPP.
