Shillong, Dec 10: The eight-match unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday as Shillong Lajong faced their first loss in the I-League, falling 3-0 to Aizawl FC in a home game at SSA Stadium, Polo Shillong.
Aizawl FC dominated the entire game, right from the opening minutes. Lalrinzuala netted the opening goal just four minutes into the match, followed by a splendid goal from R. Ramdinthara in the 17th minute, silencing the thousands of home supporters.
Despite a couple of chances, Shillong Lajong’s Karim failed to capitalise. In the second half, Aizawl sealed the victory in the 57th minute, with Zoherliana securing the third goal.
Following this win, Aizawl secured the second spot with 17 points, while Shillong Lajong currently holds the fourth position with 16 points after playing nine matches in the I-League 2023.
Shillong Lajong is set to travel to the north to face Real Kashmir on December 16.
