SHILLONG, FEB 26: Opposition Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala has allegedly failed to conevene the DISHA meetings in East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi during the last one year.
This was informed by Minister in-charge Community & Rural Development Abu Taher Mondal in his reply during the Assembly on Monday.
On the request of the opposition VPP legislator from Mawryngkneng and UDP legislator from Nongpoh Mayralborn to request the MP to convene the DISHA meeting, Mondal said, “I will inform the MP to convene the DISHA meeting.”
According to him, convening of the DISHA meeting is the prerogative of the MP concerned to review implementation of all central government flagship programmes and to also look into the grievances faced by the respective beneficiaries.
In his supplementary reply, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the DISHA is not a programme of the state government.
“It is not the state’s responsibility (to convene the meeting). Government of India monitor (the central schemes) through the MP and the MP of that constituency is his/her prerogative (to convene the said meeting) as it is directly between the departments and the MP…,” he added.
