A ruckus was reported at Shillong’s North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital after a young accident patient died on Sunday.
The boy died while undergoing treatment following an accident at Damsite at around 11 a.m. on Sunday.
According to family members and friends, the youth was still alive and well but had sustained major injuries to his legs. The hospital staff at first announced that the boy was dead, but after a few minutes, they again said that he was alive, but later he was once again pronounced dead. This has angered the family and friends of the boy.
They said that there were no doctors available until 4 p.m. no Medical professional attended the injured boy for almost 5 hours, leading to his death, as alleged by his family and friends.
After the hospital authority pronounced the dead, relatives quarrelled with hospital staff and security on duty.
