Shillong, July 12: A day after the District Administration prohibited opening of shops, foodstalls, and other establishments in and around Shillong city, food stalls vendors have urged the administration to allow opening of shops till 12 am.
“It is more safer because we are here opening our stalls during the night…”, said one of the food stall owner in Khyndailad.
“We request the DC to allow opening of stalls till 12 AM. Closing at 10 pm will be such a huge lost for us “, added the food stall owner.
However, Deputy Commissioner R M Kurbah informed that the decision to prohibit opening of food stalls, shops and other businesses after 10 pm was taken after a joint consensus, wherein it was seen that there is lot of law-and-order problem in the city.
The order was issued in view of the various incidents of violence that took place in and around Shillong which had also led to law and order situations particularly during the night, she said, warning that violators will be punished as per penal provisions under Section 188 of the IPC.
It maybe mentioned, last week, miscreants attacked Laitumkhrah PS and one police vehicle parked inside the compound were torched. 5 persons involved in the drunken brawl were arrested.
